Fender VS Gibson

Hey everybody,
Today I am gonna be talking about a debate I have with myself all the time, I don`t know why I argue with myself, I`m just strange that way.
But yeah, I am gonna be talking which guitar company is better, Fender or Gibson.
I honestly don`t know, I used to always think it was Gibson, no question about it. But now I don`t know, I mean Fender is amazing, and I would say that Gibson isn`t the best for starters, the strings are tougher and have more tension and you have to work up your fingers a bit before you could play a Gibson.
I don`t have an actual Fender or Gibson, but I have played them and both of my electric guitars are side company`s of Fender and Gibson, I have an Epiphone and I have a Squier, and my acoustic is a side company of Washburn, which is Paul Stanley`s favorite guitar company, if you don`t know who Paul Stanley is, he is the rythm guitairist and one of the lead singers of KISS.
I say one of the lead singers of KISS, becasue they are all lead singers, or at least they used to be, in the original line up they all sang, now only three of four sing.

Right now I am watching The Grammy`s, I missed the first half hour or so, Green Day just won Best Rock Album, I`m pretty happy at that, although I would have been happy with any of those people winning, the nominees (I know I probably spelt that wrong) were Green Day for 21st Century Breakdown, Eric Clapton for some live album, AC/DC for Black Ice and the Dave Mathews Band for some album, I would have liked them all except Dave Mathews Band.
And they did a Michael Jackson Tribute, and then his kids came out and they got an award and they made a speech, it was sweet.
Right Now Bon Jovie is playing, the first song they did was good, but then someone else came out to play with them and they are not doing a good song and that girl isn`t very good live. But now they are doing Livin On A Prayer and everything is good again, oh, damn it. That girl is back, back to ruin it.

Today I bought Michael Jackson`s THIS IS IT, the DVD of his final rehearsals and it was really good, that would suck to be those dancers and back up singers to practise for all those months and then he died and it was all for nothing.
Now they are doing a song for Haiti, I have no idea who is singing it but they are doing something.

But I gotta admit, Green Day is really good now, when I was in grade four I was in love with their music, and most of it was good, their was was some bad stuff, but now their stuff is actually really good, and I never knew they started in the 80s, I thought they started in like 2000.

Yesterday I got this Steve Martin movie collection, it had three of his movies, The Jerk, Dead Men Don`t Wear Plaid, and The Lonely Guy. We watched The Jerk, it was hilarious, very strange, but good.
And a while ago I was looking up Jack Black on YouTube, and I saw these two videos and they were hilarious, it was a Lord Of The Rings parody it was so funny!!! And their was a Spider Man parody and that was so hilarious.
So I would sereiously suggest going on YouTube and looking up Jack Black SpiderMan parody and it is the first one, and then look up Jack Black Lord Of The Rings parody.

Anyway, for the song of the day

Today`s Events

Hey everyone,
So today I was shopping, mostly for me, which is good, but some of it wasn`t.
So first I had drum and guitar lessons, which was awesome as always. In drumming I learned some new little excercises and stuff, and in guitar lessons I started learning Suck My Kiss by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, the song is ok, its not great but it is ok, but the guitar work is amazing, it is really cool.
And that reminds me, there are seven full songs I can play, not six, so here is that list again with that extra song.
1. Lick It Up by KISS
2. Heavens On Fire by KISS
3. Who Made Who by AC/DC
4. Slow Ride by Foghat
5. Runnin With The Devil by Van Halen
6. Lucky Man by Emmerson Lake and Palmer
7. Into The Void by KISS

Yeah, so the one I forgot was Into The Void by KISS.
And soon I will know Suck My Kiis by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. And tomorrow is suppossed to be my first drum lesson where I am the teacher, but now I am not sure he is comin over tomorrow, he might but I don`t think so, there was just a lack of communication between us, so there is always next weekend.
Yeah, but back on point, after music lessons we got home, had lunch, then me and my mom went back to the music store si I could look at guitar books, I was looking for something by The Ramones or The Clash, but couldn`t find anything so got a Guns N Roses book.
Then went to the mall to get some clothes, especially a new pair of jeans cause I am going to a dance on Friday, so I got new jeans, a Jimi Hendrix tee, and an AC/DC tee, so I'm pretty happy about that.
Then we got back to the house and relaxed for a while, then went back out for grocery shopping, which wasn`t nearly as fun, because I simply don`t like grocery shopping and it wasn`t for me specifically.
And tomorrow is just relaxing, unless my drum student comes over, but yeah just relaxing and I have a speech to write for school, my speech is on Why Gibson Is The Best Guitar Company, if you know me personally that it is obvious I would do something like that.
Anyway, I can`t wait for the dance on Friday, last dance I only danced with one girl, which at the moment I was happy cause I finaly did it, cause it took me a while to ask someone, so this time I have a goal! I am gonna try for at least five, hopefully more, but at least five.
All right and for the song of the day I couldn`t decided between these two so I am putting them both down, so here you go
Police On My Back by The Clash
I'm Looking Through You by The Beatles

Songs To Learn

Hey all,
Today I am gonna talk about all the songs I can play, and the songs I want to play.
So there are literally hundreds of songs I want to learn, so I am only gonna list a few today.
But first I am gonna list all the songs that I can play fully, every part of it. So here is that list
1. Lick It Up by KISS
2. Heavens On Fire by KISS
3. Lucky Man by Emmerson Lake and Palmer
4. Runnin With The Devil by Van Halen
5. Slow Ride by Foghat
6. Who Made Who by AC/DC

Yeah, so those are the songs where I can play the full thing full speed.
And I counted all the songs where I can play parts of them, little riffs, I counted over 60 songs.
So here is a list of some of the songs where I can play a bit of them
1. Slither by Velvet Revolver
2. Schools Out by Alice Cooper
3. Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses
4. I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones
5. You Shook Me All Night by AC/DC (I know the entire song except the solo, which I used to know)
6. Shoot To Thrill by AC/DC
7. You Wanted The Best by KISS (I know everything but half the solo)
8. Stacy`s Mom by Fountain Of Wayne
9. Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin
10. Black Dog by Led Zeppelin

So those are a couple of songs I can play parts of.
And for songs I want to learn there are hundreds. Here are a couple of them

1. My Brain Is Hangin Upside Down by The Ramones
2. F.I.N.E. (F***ed Up, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional) by Aerosmith
3. Beyond Beatiful by Aerosmith
4. Rock N Roll High School by The Ramones
5. November Rain by Guns N Roses
6. Unholy by KISS
7. Revolution by The Beatles
8. Burn It To The Ground by Nickleback
9. Can`t Stop by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
10. Suck My Kiss by The Red Hot Chili Peppers (I don`t really like the song, but has got some really good guitar stuff in it)

Yeah, so those are 10 out of the hundreds of songs I want to learn.
So tomorrow I have guitar and drum lessons, which I am looking forward too, I am gonna start learning Suck My Kiss by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, my guitar teacher wants me to learn it cause it has really cool guitar work in it.
I am also gonna get some new guitar books, I wanna see if they have any guitar book for The Ramones, among other things. I am gonna price bass drum peddles too, cause my drum peddle is horrible, the entire drum set isnt that good, but oh well.
And then on Sunday I am going to have my first drum lesson where I am the teacher, hopefully, I am still not 100% sure about the plans, but so far he is coming over.
Gonna teach him all the parts of the drums show him some excercises and other stuff, gonna list some drummers he should get into, I know a couple drummers I am gonna suggest to him, Keith Moon, Jon Bonham, Travis Barker, and a couple of other people.
Anyway, and then it`s back to school on Monday, in Language Arts we have a speech and the rough draft is due on Monday, my speech is on Why Gibson Is The Best Guitar Company, if you know me then that is pretty obvious. We also have study notes for Science due, yesterday we had a math quiz and a history test.

My Songs

Hey everyone,
Today, or tonight I guess, since it is night, oh well nevermind. I am gona be talking about all the music that I have written, I have not made any full songs, I `ve made parts of songs but not full things. See, the thing is, I have some trouble making lyrics, I can make parts for guitar, drums, bass and piano, but lyrics I have trouble with. Yeah, so right now I one maybe two songs going on, one is called Fallen Tears, but I might drop that one cause I was really sad when I wrote it so it is a sad song. The other one, and I just decided to start it literally a couple of minutes ago, I think I am gonna call it Two Of A Kind. Pretty good name, right? Yeah, so I think I have a something for guitar I wanna use for it, I don`t think it is gonna be one of my really hard rock songs, I think I am gonna go with something a bit softer, more Rolling Stones or something, it might be a bit harder rock than them but oh well, still gotta make up my mind.

Oh and that kid I am gonna teach guitar and drums to, I am gonna teach him drums for a while first cause he won`t have a guitar for a while, and we are gonna start a band together, right now it would be more of a duo, but oh well. I have some ideas for names, most of them aren`t that good, but some are ok, one of them is Crazy Reaction, that one is pretty good. One thing I wanna do is learn bass, I already know how to play but just the basics, I wanna do what I do with everything musical, learn every part of it.

Also, today I finished something I have been working on for a while, it is a playlist called 13 For 13, since I am turning 13, in 38 days. Yeah so, the songs are
1. Hey Tonight by Creedance Clearwater Revival
2. November Rain by Guns N Roses
3. Gates Of Steel by DEVO
4. Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses
5. Crazy by Aerosmith
6. Holiday by Green Day
7. Live To Win by Paul Stanley
8. I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister
9. Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
10. Deuces Are Wild by Aerosmith
11. Who Made Who by AC/DC
12. Come Dancin by The Kinks
13. God Gave Rock N Roll To You by KISS

Yeah, and all of those songs are important to me, I`m not gonna say why, but they are.
But yeah, I am excited for this weekend, I get Friday off, then drum and guitar lessons for me and for that kid, even though I am gonna be constrataing on drums for him cause he doesn`t have a guitar.
Anyway, song of the day time

My Book

All right, hey everyone.
So maybe half a year ago I started writing a book, but then I just left it, and yesterday I printed off what I had done, made some corrections and started writing again. So far it is going pretty good, it is about this kid called Ace (me), and he and his friends are in a band, and all the characters are made up of all my friends and teachers from my old school. Yeah so it this guy and his frineds getting ready for a performance at their school, and I have some ideas for it that I think will make it pretty cool.

And some more good news, you know how I am gonna be a guitar teacher? Well today I found out that I am gonna be a drum teacher too, thats awesome!
Its to the same kid, he wants to learn multiple instruments which is awesome and the same for me, cause I play guitar, drums, bass, and I can sing. So yeah, and we might even start drum classed this weekend, I e-mailed him, so I am patiently waiting. So we are probably gonna start a band when he gets better and familiar with the instruments. So I have to learn some songs that he wants to learn, I know the main riffs for all of them but not the entire songs. I just noticed something, I know how to play six full songs on the guitar, full speed, everything. I can play Lick It Up by KISS, Heavens On Fire by KISS, Slow Ride by Foghat, Runnin With The Devil by Van Halen, Who Made Who by AC/DC, and Lucky Man by Emmerson Lake and Palmer.
Yeah so he wants to learn Thunderstruck by AC/DC, some Guns N Roses stuff, bunch of AC/DC stuff and some Led Zeppelin. But I mean, I want to teach more than just this one person, if I can I am going to do this as much as I can.

Sometime in the next week I am going to do another list of greatest songs.

Night On The Town

Hey,
So tonight I went out for dinner with my dad and his girlfriend and his bussiness partners and his girlfriend. We went to a place called Murphy`s Law, the food was good, the converstaion was good but the service sucked.

But then my dads bussiness partner got us a very Scottish desert... Deep fried Mars Bar with vanilla ice cream, it was amzing, bad as hell for you, but amazing.
Then we came home and just hung out and just talked. Tomorrow my dad has a run for help in Haiti, which is awesome that he is doing it cause anything to help out there, just the bad thing is... we have to get up at 6:30 IN THE MORNING!!!!!!!!! I am not made for that, the run is at 8:30, unless its for school I can`t get up until at least 9:30.

Because of that run I have decided to get into running, so I have decided to start training, some with my dad and some on my own and the earliest actual official run I could do is probably in September.
Yesterday I saw a movie that was way better than I thought it would be, Detroit Rock City, the movie featuring KISS. Except for the part where it didn`t show the last two parts, I watched it on YouTube, and it didn`t have the last two parts, which sucked.

I am so excited about me being my friends guitar teacher, that is awesome. But the thing is, apparently he needs a 90% average in music, which shouldn`t be that hard cause he is getting a tutor now for flute, which is the instrument he plays in music class, and I he has me helping him, which in music class is a pretty good thing, my average was 98%.

Guitar Teacher

Ok, hey
So today I found something out that I think really cool, a kid in my class is going to start playing guitar and he wants me to teach him!!! That is pretty damn cool, he likes a lot of good music, his favorite bands right now are Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. The thing is that he has to get a 90% average in music class, which should be pretty easy for him now cause he is getting a tutuor for flute which is what he plays in it, and I am gonna help him, right now my music average just went down from a 98% to a 93%, but thats still pretty good.
So yeah, I am really looking forward to this, I love teaching, I love music, I love teaching music, so this is gonna be good. He asked me what guitar I thought he should get, he wanted a Gibson Custom Angus Younge SG, but all Gibson guitars have tougher strings because they are meant for people who have been doing it for a while and who have worked their fingers up. So I suggested Epiphone SG, Epiphone Les Paul, Fender or Squier Stratocaster and Fender or Squier Telecaster. Fender strings are more flexible and pliable.
Also Gibson is a lot to handle for someone who is just starting, even Epiphone are pretty good for starters, and the strings on Epiphones are still pretty solid and unpliable.
On the weekend I am getting a webcam, I was supposed to get one tonight but ended up not.
I have two videos up on YouTube but they aren`t very good so I am hopefully gonna have at least another one or maybe two by midweek next week.
I also am hopefully going to be going to my favorite store in world... Steves Music Store!!! It is awesome, it is my personal MECA, and whenever I go there the people are so nice to, I am always the youngest person there and they are so nice to me, letting me try everything do anyhting I want, they let me help with some other stuff its just awesome.
Oh, and on Thursday I have a music playing test, I have to a duet with someone but I have to do two duets since I play percussion which is drums and the bells which is the zilophone but metel instead of wood. One song I have to learn is Burn It To The Ground by Nickleback.

Scholars

Hey,
So, right now I have a deal that if I get scholars this term, next term and all of grade 8, I get a Gibson Les Paul, so if I get and 80% or higher average I get a Gibson Les Paul.
That is a pretty awesome deal and I am so excited about it except for one thing, getting scholars is proving to be harder than I thought. Right now my average is right now my average is 70%, but probably went up a bit cause of science, but the teacher hasn`t posted my science marks yet. Yeah, so I have got a bit of work to do, my worst classes are History and French, I am so amazed that French is doing better than History, cause I suck at French, like, I was failing French for a while, it was 45%, now it is 59%.
One thing that sucks is that I am starting to get pretty sick, I got a cough or something a couple days ago and I woke up this morning and my throat was hurting, I lost my voice a bit, and I am coughing a lot and it hurts, so yeah, I hope this doesn`t get worse by tomorrow, cause I actually like school.
Today I decided that I needed to write a song, a good one, not just some random crappy song.
So I decided to lock myself in my room (even though my room doesn`t have a lock) and make a song, so far I have some ideas for guitar, some titles, a while ago I made some lyrics but I was really sad at the time so the lyrics are way to sad, so I have to make some new lyrics which should pretty hard cause I am not amazing at making lyrics, I can just it takes a long time and a lot of work. One thing I need to do is get a 9 volt battery, cause I got a wah wah peddle for Christmas but it needs a 9 volt battery. A while ago I got into an argument with one of my friends, which is common for us, we fight a lot. But we haven`t talked in like 10 days which is very strange for us, except for like two days ago we kinda talked a bit. We were doing something for the Middle School Music Night at our school but now I don`t know whats happening, we haven`t talked in a while haven`t practised in a long time.

Drama

All right, hey.
So this tuesday at my school was the first Tuesday Arts Program of the new year/term. So the choices are Drumming(drum core), Piping, Band, Drama and Visual Arts. Last term, at the start of the school year I picked Drumming, which in Middle School is ok, but in Upper school it is awesome. This term I picked Drama, yesterday was the first one of the term. Yeah, so Drama was awesome, we just introduced ourselves and then we did this thing where we pick a partner and the teavher tells us an emotion to act out, so the first one was angry, so me and my friend were awesome at that one, then you had to find a new partner, and the emotion was happy, and keep doing that with new partners and emotions. Then we learned about what drama and improv is. Then we did this thing called Freeze, two people would go on stage, and act a random skit out, then someone from the addiance would say freeze and then go in and take one of the persons places and start a new skit. So yeah, that was fun, can`t wait till next Tuesday, and tomorrow is Clan Spirit Day, so we have a winter activity, and then Friday is MacPherson Tournement, which is a hockey tournement that my school plays in. So next year for the Tuesday Arts Program I am probably doing Drumming, but maybe Drama.
Yesterday I got a bunch of new songs for my IPod, got some stuff by The Ramones, Thin Lizzy, Sweet, and a bunch of other stuff.
Ok, for the song of the day I couldn`t decide between these two, so I decided to put both down.
So the songs of the day are
The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy
I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones

Top Ten Favorite Songs

Hey, a while ago I did a post about my Top 10 Favorite Bands and Songs, well now I am doing that again, but just songs, not bands. So, a lot of these songs are by the band Aerosmith, which is my favorite band right now. So yeah, here it is.

1. F.I.N.E. (F***ed Up, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional) by Aerosmith
2. Lay It Down by Aerosmith
3. You See Me Crying by Aerosmith
4. Hysteria by Def Leppard
5. I Am The Walrus by The Beatles
6. No More No More by Def Leppard
7. Hide Your Heart by KISS
8. Who Are You by The Who
9. My Wife by The Who
10. Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard

Yeah so, those are my favorite songs at the moment, so in a while that list will be different.
There are a lot of other songs I want to put on that list but, they didn`t make it.
So just a while ago we had I guests over for dinner, it was a couple from Winnipeg, so that was fun, got to show off a bit with music (I always do that). Tomorrow I have guitar and drum lessons, can`t wait, I`ve played guitar for four years in just under two months, and I`ve played drums a couple of months.
Oh, I just remembered, I have my first video up on YouTube, my channel is called smackinmackintosh, I only have one video up so far, but I will add more, so subscribe, comment, whatever.

2010

All right, today is January 1st 2010. This seems like a pretty good year, a lot of good movies coming out. Maybe some good music. Hopefully it will be better than 2009, there were a lot of celebrity deaths in 2009. Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, Ted Kennedy and one of the Golden Gilrs, and there were more but I can`t remember. Yesterday was pretty cool, went to a run that my dad was in, that was pretty cool. Even though I am happy it is the start of a new year, the month of December was pretty good. Christmas, boxing day, I saw three movies which is strange for me cause I had a hearing thing so I hadn`t went to the movies in like four years. I saw A Christmas Carol, Old Dogs and Its Complicated. All of them were good except Christmas Carol, that wasn`t really good, and it was really grim for Disney. It was quite dark, but the other movies were awesome. In music for me 2009 wasn`t that good, except for KISS`s new album, that was awesome, eleven new songs, fifteen re-recorded songs and a DVD of one of their concerts. So yeah, 2010 seems pretty good.

Unfortunately, The Toxic Avenger Musical in Toronto is playing its last performance tomorrow.
That kinda sucks, but oh well, there are a lot of good plays in Toronto. I just noticed something... Today is Friday, I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and then I am back at school. Wow, that snuck up on me. Oh well, I am looking forward to get back, I am switching from drumming to drama, so that should be fun.
